What is FTMScan? - A Guide On How To Use The Explorer Of The Fantom Blockchain

By Damian David Feb 27, 2023

Fantom(FTM)SCAN

FTMScan is the official Fantom Blockchain explorer that is used to search for transactions, addresses, blocks, and other data in the Fantom blockchain. It was made by the same team behind the architecture of the EtherScan.

Thousands of transactions are being executed on the Fantom Blockchain every day, totalling millions of dollars in value. For a Decentralized platform with such traffic and throughput, transparency is vital for a number of factors.

Transparency will enhance the surety of users as they bear in mind that their transactional records can be reviewed after they make a transaction thus making it easy to determine the final output of the transaction they made without doubt.

FTMScan provides this transparency and surety for its users as it serves as a transaction search engine of the Fantom blockchain mainnet. Aside from the transparency and easy scanning it provides, it can also serve sundry services for developers and data tracking dApps.

At Glance

● FTMScan was created sometime around 2020 by the same team of developers responsible for the EtherScan.

● FTMScan is similar to the EtherScan in functionality so it wouldn't be difficult for those already familiar with the EtherScan interface.

● FTMScan provides accurate information about transactions carried out in the Fantom blockchain.

● It also serves as a blockchain dairy keeping a record of all your transaction history in the Fantom blockchain.

● Metadata like timestamps, number of blocks involved in the transaction, status of the transaction at any given time etc. can be gotten from the FTMScan.

How Does FTMScan Work?

FTMScan is a simple website structure toolkit, it works simply by serving as an explorer or transaction magnifying glass to the Fantom blockchain mainnet.

It filters out the bogus processes and smart contract mechanisms, to lay in bare sight the most important information concerning all transactions and block validations going on in the Fantom blockchain mainnet.

So there isn't any vital core technical structure or architectural makeup that the FTMScan runs on which is vital to know before its utilization.

As of February 2023, there are currently two types of FTMScan; the FTMScan Mainnet and the FTMScan Testnet.

The FTMScan Testnet is an underlying project of the FTMScan Mainnet and it's used to experiment more use cases of the FTMScan.

What Can You Use the FTMScan To Do?

● You can use it to view the top accounts in the Fantom blockchain.

● You can use it to view transactions (pending, confirmed, complete and failed).

● You can use it to view blocks and the addresses that validated it.

● You can use it to view and know contract addresses that are verified to avoid being scammed.

● You can use it to know the top validators in the Fantom blockchain.

● You can use it to view ERC20 standard tokens and their statistics.

● You can use it to get accurate statistics and charts about; Daily Transactions, ERC20 Daily Token Transfer, Unique Addresses, Average Block Size, Average Block Time, Average Gas Price, etc.

How Do You Use The FTMScan To Check Your Transaction Status?

To use the FTMScan you'll need a transaction hash or transaction ID. A Transaction has or Transaction ID is basically a receipt issued after your transaction is confirmed or processed by the network. It is usually a long string of numbers and letters usually 66 characters long.

● Copy your Transaction Hash or Transaction ID, enter ftmscan.com on your web browser and paste it into the search bar of the FTMScan explorer.

● You'll be directed to the page that contains every important data in regard to your transaction.

● The status of your transaction will be shown, whether it's pending, confirmed, successful or failed.

● The number of blocks it took to execute the transaction will be shown just right below the status note.

● The Timestamp will be shown in detail, the date, time and the number of seconds or minutes it took to confirm your transaction.

● The sender's address and the receiver's address will be shown just below the Timestamp.

● The value of your transaction, the transaction fee and the gas price it charged.

Why Choose the FTMScan?

Because the FTMScan is the only blockchain explorer made for the Fantom blockchain mainnet. Additionally using the FTMScan saves you a lot of time and research with respect to your transactions, data, footprints and history in the Fantom blockchain mainnet.
