Vitalik Buterin is a 29-year-old Russian descent computer programmer, writer, and Philanthropist who is popularly known as the creator and founder of Ethereum . Vitalik Buterin was born in Kolomna, Russia to Russian parents in 31 January, 1994.

Vitalik Buterin has always been the smartest in the room, he picked an interest in mathematics, programming, and economics from a very young age and has since then worked with advanced projects and also won various awards, the most peculiar being the "Thiel Fellowship".

Vitalik Buterin got admitted into the University Of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada where he was engaged actively in learning advanced courses related to programming and software development. 

This journey led him to work hand in hand with Ian Goldberg, a cryptographer, and cypherpunk who co-created Off-the-Record Messaging and was also one of the board directors of the Tor Project; 

Tor Project is an organization responsible for maintaining the software architecture of the Tor anonymity network and browser.

After meeting and networking with different developers from different countries in 2013 he came back to Canada and wrote the first white paper on the Ethereum Blockchain as a proposition. 

About a year later after the white paper was published and circulated he dropped out from the University Of Waterloo. A decision that was facilitated by a grant of $100,000 from a scholarship program by the Thiel Fellowship, a program created by venture capitalist Peter Thiel.

However in the year 2018 on November 30, Vitalik Buterin received an honorary doctorate degree from the University Of Basel from the faculty of business  and economics.

Vitalik Buterin is the Co-founder and former lead writer of one of the biggest and most original news and print magazine publishers writing and publishing majorly Bitcoin  and a little of various cryptocurrencies  - Bitcoin Magazine.

He started his writing career by working for Bitcoin Weekly, a publication that is no longer functional due to insufficient revenue. And it was after this event that he and "Mihai Alisie" founded Bitcoin Magazine.

Bitcoin Weekly reportedly paid him 5 Bitcoins for each article which was worth about $3.50 as of 2011 when he started writing for the publication. He worked for the publication for about a year until after it was shut down due to insufficient revenue. 

Four years later, he got another job as one of the editors of "Ledger", the first peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to cryptocurrency and blockchain technology research.

A year after dropping out of college, Vitalik Buterin created Ethereum and Co-founded the decentralized blockchain powered by smart contracts with  four others namely; Gavin Wood , Charles Hoskinson, Anthony Di Iorio, and Joseph Lubin

He created Ethereum as a blockchain to fill the scalability loophole he said the Bitcoin Blockchain has. Explaining that the Bitcoin Blockchain lacked "a scripting language for application development".

If his argument was heard we probably wouldn't have gotten Ethereum but it was reported the claim wasn't taken seriously so he went on to make a blockchain network  and decentralized finance platform with a scripting language for application development.

With respect to the Ethereum Blockchain also supporting financial transactions in terms of cryptocurrency and deFi, he said he was pushed to create decentralized money because his World of Warcraft character was nerfed (to make a game character or element worse) by a centralized game developer called Blizzard.
