The Most Anticipated Tap-to-Earn Airdrop Raises Eyebrows

With over 270 million players, as per last reported numbers, the Telegram-based Tap-to-Earn project, Hamster Kombat, whose broader game design is based on being a crypto exchange CEO, have caused community suspicions on the validity of the project and its commitment to fulfilling it's promises and mission.

The Hamster Kombat team stirred up excitements when it released its roadmap in June on its official website, indicating the projected token generation event(TGE) set for July.

All listed developments set out in the roadmap has been fulfilled with TGE being the next cause heavily anticipated by its community of over 270 million players.

That said, while a token generation event does not necessarily mean “an airdrop event” as TGE simply means creating a token on-chain, most projects use this to indicate an estimated date for a community airdrop. The Hamster Kombat roadmap also points to a planned “in-game utility launch” for the game's token in July.

At the time of writing, there are numerous tokens with the HMSTR ticker on the TON blockchain, however, our research team could not determine if any were from the Hamster Kombat game but found that most of these tokens were already labelled “SCAM” by TON explorers, indicating that they are not from the viral Crypto Exchange CEO Simulation game.

Notwithstanding, Hamster Kombat's recent community sentiment has shown a strong and growing skeptism of the project's practices, mostly due to the recent wave of new in-game developments such as skins, keys and the most recently: the launch of the Playground with third-party apps to earn more keys.

Although the introduction of skins were well welcomed by the community as its a popular notion that skins could signify “project NFTs” or special additional airdrop rewards. That said, the community did not quite receive the addition of keys to the game.

Initially, the only way to earn keys were to solve a puzzle under 30 seconds to which the community complained was too limited.

On the 27th July, the Hamster Kombat team introduced the Playground with a third-party biking game to earn more keys with a note saying: “More games coming soon..”

Pixelverse Fail-Drop Heightens Hamster Kombat’s Scrutiny

The introduction of the Playground in the Hamster Kombat game have met a great community resistance as the TON ecosystem reflects on Pixelverse fail-drop that involved unfair mechanisms leaving the community unrewarded.

With less than 300k accounts being eligible for an airdrop amount worth over $100 at launch of PIXFI and -90% penalty on early claimers of said airdrop, the TON ecosystem is now more causcious of projects on Telegram who swooped in to capitalize on the hype surrounding Notcoin’s success.

Most hamster kombat players have complained of this third-party app containing too many ads, causing a third speculation that the team at Hamster kombat are leveraging on its large userbase to generate income from ads.

With no clear communications of airdrop plans as July's closing draws near, the Hamster Kombat players are growing vocal and demanding the leads of the project to clear the air on the token airdrop and the way forward for the game.

So far, there has been no response from the team at hamster kombat and a select few are already calling hamster kombat a scam using the community to earn from ads on YouTube videos and the recently introduced third-party apps on Playground.
