Over 900,000 addresses now hold 1 Bitcoin (BTC)

 

Having had a series of price turmoils over the past months since its previous all-time high of 69k on November 10, 2021, Bitcoin hodlers have grown in numbers regardless of the price crash.

 

The proof-of-work-based cryptocurrency started the day trading around $18k with a volume of over $40 billion in the last 24hrs.

 

Concerns about energy consumption and the unregulated nature of these digital assets have put many institutions away while at the same time being a major source of FUDs publicized by no-coiners.
 

That said, on many accounts, lots of factors point to how economically valuable Bitcoin mining is, with reports pointing that Bitcoin energy consumption is on a low scale compared to other carbon-emitting sectors.

On September 19, glassnode data representing the trend of addresses with Bitcoin balances accounting for 1 unit was published by DocumentingBTC.

 

Chart proposed that addresses holding 1 BTC recently reach 900k. Currently, this accounts for about 4.69% of the total circulating supply. 

 

How Much Bitcoin Does The Top 100 hold?

 

Following that over 900,000 addresses out of millions of Bitcoin address ever created hold 1 BTC, the question of how much the top 100 hold and if it accounts to supply centralization kicks in.

 

The top 100 Bitcoin addresses as of September 19, 2022, hold approximately 3 million bitcoins, at the current price of $19,480 a unit, which is over $58 billion given the price crash compared to the reported $84 billion in price value in early January.

 

How Many People Own 1 BTC?

 

Based on the data from glassnode, 900,000 people or addresses currently hold a Bitcoin balance equating to 1 BTC.
